Start with a departure you know

Enter a recent tour using a consistent currency and tax basis. Then change one assumption at a time to see whether the result is most sensitive to occupancy, pricing or delivery costs.

How the calculation works

Revenue is guest count multiplied by price per guest. Included costs are the fixed departure cost, variable cost per guest and commission on revenue. The difference is the estimated contribution after the costs you entered. Divide that contribution by revenue to calculate the displayed margin.

Use a consistent basis

Enter all amounts in AUD and on the same tax basis. Do not mix gross receipts with tax-exclusive costs. The calculator does not model refunds, discounts, tiered commissions or general overhead unless you include their effect in the inputs.

Understand the break-even estimate

The break-even guest count divides fixed departure costs by the contribution of one additional guest after variable cost and commission. It rounds up to a whole guest. If each guest contributes zero or less before fixed costs, the current inputs cannot reach break-even.

Use the result as a planning conversation

A scenario can help you ask better questions about pricing, departure frequency or costs. It does not predict demand or guarantee profit. Compare it with actual records before making a commercial decision.
